How fancy fonts work on Instagram and TikTok
Instagram, TikTok, X and most apps don’t let you change fonts. So how do people get bold, cursive or bubble letters in their bios? The secret is Unicode. Unicode is the universal character set every phone and computer uses, and it contains thousands of special symbols — including complete alphabets in mathematical bold, italic, script, double-struck, gothic (Fraktur), circled and full-width styles.
This fancy font generator swaps each normal letter for its look-alike Unicode symbol. Because the result is text, not an image, you can copy and paste it anywhere that accepts text: bios, display names, captions, comments, Story text, YouTube titles, Discord nicknames and more.
How to use fancy fonts in your bio
- Type your text in the box — your name, a tagline or a whole bio.
- Browse the styles. Every font updates live as you type, including decorated versions with symbols like ꧁ ꧂ and ✧.
- Tap a style to copy it to your clipboard.
- Open Instagram or TikTok, go to Edit profile and paste into your Name, Bio or a caption.
- Check it on another device to make sure every character displays correctly.
Popular font styles explained
- Bold and bold italic — great for emphasising a word or headline in a caption.
- Script and bold script — elegant cursive for beauty, wedding and aesthetic accounts.
- Gothic (Fraktur) — dark, edgy and popular with gaming and music profiles.
- Bubble and squares — playful letters for kawaii and fun profiles.
- Small caps and wide (vaporwave) — minimal, retro aesthetics.
- Strikethrough and underline — use sparingly for jokes and emphasis.
- Upside down and mirror — attention-grabbing novelty text.
Each style is generated with real Unicode characters, so it works on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac. A few rare symbols may show as empty boxes on very old devices.
Fancy fonts, accessibility and SEO
Screen readers read Unicode letters as maths symbols, and search inside Instagram and TikTok may not match fancy characters to normal words. Use fancy fonts for decoration — a name accent, a header or a single highlighted word — and keep keywords people search for (your niche, location, profession) in normal text so you stay discoverable and accessible.
