Why Instagram removes your bio spacing
You carefully type a bio with blank lines between sections, hit save — and Instagram squashes it into one block. Apps strip empty lines and trailing spaces to keep bios tidy, and some keyboards insert hidden characters that confuse the editor. The result is a cramped bio that’s hard to read.
The fix is an invisible character. This tool fills each empty line with a Braille Pattern Blank (U+2800), a character that looks like nothing but counts as content, so the app keeps the line. Leading spaces are converted the same way, letting you indent or roughly centre lines.
How to add line breaks to your Instagram bio
- Choose your platform — Instagram (150 characters), TikTok (80), Threads (150) or X (160).
- Type your bio in the box, pressing Enter where you want new lines and blank lines.
- Optionally centre the lines for a symmetrical look.
- Check the preview and counter to make sure you’re within the limit.
- Tap Copy, open Edit profile in the app and paste into the Bio field.
How to structure a great bio
A good bio answers three questions in a few short lines: who you are, what followers will get and what to do next. Line breaks make each part scannable. For example:
Line 1 — your niche or role with an emoji. Line 2 — location or a credibility point. Line 3 — contact or collab info. Blank line. Line 4 — a call to action pointing to your link.
Bio formatting tips
- Lead with keywords. Words in your Name field are searchable on Instagram, so put your niche there.
- Use emoji as bullets to break up lines without wasting characters.
- Remember invisible characters count towards the limit — the counter includes them.
- Test on mobile, where most people will see your bio.
